The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of and affinity for software development with web technologies including front end and back end development using modern frameworks, REST API’s and  interaction with SQL and NoSQL databases. The candidate will work on mission critical, high availability, low downtime applications.

Morgan Solar is a Toronto-based company developing innovative solar power, illumination and tracking & control technology platforms based on a strong IP portfolio.  The company is poised to capitalize on solar power’s recent achievement of energy cost parity and to make possible the achievement of net-zero buildings. We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, and intelligent teammates.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop web-based user portals and mobile applications for new web-enabled devices
  • Update and maintain existing web applications
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams (Product Development, Manufacturing, BizDev, etc )

Knowledge and skills

  • Experience building visually appealing dashboards, and data visualizations
  • Proficient in modern front-end frameworks such as VueJS, Angular, React
  • Proficient in current Javascript standards (ES6+)
  • Experience with consumption of REST APIs
  • Proficient with responsive web design
  • NodeJS and npm package management
  • Proficient with databases, including MySQL and MongoDB
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently

Education required

Discipline:  Computer Science or similar

Relevant Experience: 3+ years or co-op equivalent

Eligibility criteria

Qualified interns are:

  • Starting the internship within two years of receiving their post-secondary diploma
  • Underemployed (employed below their level of education or work part-time)
  • No more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada*
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Not receiving employment insurance during their internship
  • Available to work for at least six months

*Refugee protection must be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, student visa or work visa, are ineligible to participate in a Youth Employment Strategy initiative.
