The Production Assistant works closely with the Producer(s) to play an integral role in providing administrative and production support for production management and the team.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to production team, including photocopying, filing, data entry, typing reports, memos, meeting minutes and distribution.
  • Provides digital support to the editorial and After Effects (comp) teams
  • Inputs all digital assets into Shotgun and tracks accordingly
  • Responsible for preparation, distribution and tracking of editorial and comp assets
  • Adheres to digital file management and tracking protocols
  • Packaging and shipping to outsourcers as required.
  • Schedules, prepares and sets up meetings, reviews and video conferencing as required.
  • Research as directed.
  • Additional duties as requested.
  • Interacts respectfully and professionally with colleagues, other staff members, partners and clients.

Knowledge and skills

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.

·       Computer database skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Introductory After Effects, Editorial software knowledge
  • Must be capable of working independently or as part of a team and demonstrate initiative.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Solid work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Efficient and detail oriented.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to deliver work on time and meet set performance objectives.

Education required

  • University degree or equivalent - specialty in animation preferred.
  • 1+ years industry experience preferred.

Qualified interns are:

  • Post-secondary graduates – this is not a requirement for residents of the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut applying for internships in those territories
  • Underemployed (employed below their level of education or work part-time)
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada*
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Available to work for at least six months
  • Not employees of the hiring employer prior to the start of their internship (does not apply to previous coop students or student interns)

*Refugee protection must be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, student visa or work visa, are ineligible to participate in a Youth Employment and Skills Strategy initiative.
