We’re looking for a Mobile Intelligent Agent Developer Intern to drive our front-end mobile software development strategy. You know your mobile devices, and have ideally had experience developing user experiences using iOS and Android phones and tablets and would love to experiment with intelligent agents on smartwatches and head-worn displays. You are fascinated by the ability to combine location based understanding, multi-sensor information fusion, and push notifications to guide people based on their context.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the analysis and design of the mobile implementation of the contextere platform
  • Analyse and recommend a mobile application development framework to build cross-platform mobile machine learning and intelligent applications
  • Support the design, development, and testing of the mobile intelligent UI/UX, for smartwatches, phones, tablets, and headworn wearables with integration to critical enterprise data systems and IIOT stream data environments

Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of commercial and open source mobile application development frameworks
  • Understanding of techniques and constraints of mobile and wearable UI/UX design
  • Strong programming skills appropriate to mobile and wearable application development
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and algorithms and the constraints of deployment on mobile devices
  • Understanding of SOA web services/RESTful implementations, WCF, WebAPI
  • Ideally, knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure platform as a service (PaaS) including stream analytics and machine learning components
  • Ideally, experience with mobile application development and Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) architectures
  • Experience with multiple software development languages, including C#, C++, Python, and Java
  • Experience effectively collaborating across multiple teams

Education required

  • Diploma in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering

Certification required

No special certifications are required.

Qualified interns are:

  • Starting the internship within two years of receiving their post-secondary diploma
  • Underemployed (employed below their level of education or work part-time)
  • No more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada*
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Not receiving employment insurance during their internship
  • Available to work for at least six months

*Refugee protection must be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, student visa or work visa, are ineligible to participate in a Youth Employment Strategy initiative.
