Job Description

Colinkz Media is looking for a passionate and knowledgable graphic designer whoo can help design marketing materials and UX for our online platform.

Colinkz is a collaborative platform that connects individuals of different cultural backgrounds in order to share various authentic cultural experiences. We are a tech start up that wants to promote cultural diversity in Vancouver.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Consult with team to establish the overall look, graphic elements and content of communications materials
  • Determine the medium best suited to produce the desired visual effect and the most appropriate vehicle for communication
  • Prepare sketches, layouts and graphic elements of the subjects to be rendered using traditional tools, multimedia software and image processing, layout and design software
  • Estimate cost of materials and time to complete graphic design
  • Use existing photo and illustration banks and typography guides
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment
  • User behaviour research, site assessment, and competitive analysis documented as process flows, journey maps, information architectures and wireframes
  • Producing functional prototypes using Sketch and InVision to demonstrate and evaluate key functionality
  • Usability evaluation and analysis for both in-person tests and remote unmoderated testing
  • Crafting design specifications documents to effectively communicate detailed interaction behaviours and design rationale
  • Consulting with business stakeholders to capture assumptions to be validated
  • Working collaboratively with business leads, product owners, developers, and UI designers to build scalable solutions that improve the user experience

Knowledge and skills

- Adobe Creative Suite (esp. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere)

- Hand drawing and Illustration

- Photography

- Videography (All the way from ideation to story-boarding to production to editing and project completion)


- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Assist management in their daily activities if required

- The ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment

- A determination to achieve and succeed

- Consistency regardless of project size

- Good organizational skills that support the rest of the team

- The motivation to maintain and improve design standards

- The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve



Education required

  • Social Media Marketing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adobe Photoshop: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Editing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adobe Creative Suite: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adobe After Effects: 1 year (Preferred)
  • office environment: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Adobe Illustrator: 1 year (Preferred)

Certification required

Certificate in Graphic Design

Eligibility criteria

Career-Launcher Internships are funded by the Government of Canada under the Youth Employment Strategy. For program criteria information visit their website.


Qualified interns are:

  • Starting the internship within two years of receiving their post-secondary diploma
  • Underemployed (employed below their level of education or work part-time)
  • No more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada*
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Not receiving employment insurance during their internship
  • Available to work for at least six months

*Refugee protection must be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, student visa or work visa, are ineligible to participate in a Youth Employment Strategy initiative.
