Full Stack Java Developer

Evolved Vehicle Environments (EVE) develops next generation connected car solutions to bring the modern digital lifestyle into vehicles in a safe and effective way. We are looking for a Full Stack Java software engineer (3+ years) having the ability to develop, debug, secure, improve, and modify existing and new in-vehicle software solutions. The candidate should in-depth knowledge of java and full stack web development experience, be a detail-oriented person with excellent communication skills who can work in a dynamic team environment to develop leading-edge software solutions for connected vehicles in global markets.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Design, develop and test back-end Java based web API
  • Develop and modify existing front end we
  • Design and improve increasingly efficient and scalable back-end services
  • Design and adopt IBM Cloud back-end to new fields and technologies
  • Maintain high standards of quality for code, technical documentation, and deliverables
  • Collaborate on projects comprised of varying skillsets through code reviews and design discussions
  • Maintain, update and support existing software features and solutions
  • Developing front end website architecture
  • Designing user interactions on web pages
  • Ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile phones
  • Meeting both technical and consumer needs
  • Staying abreast of developments in web applications and programming languages
  • Obtain a strong knowledge and understanding of our software solutions

Knowledge and skills

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in Java development building large, scalable enterprise solutions
  • 3+ years of full stack development experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience with spring/springboot framework
  • Proven ability to gather requirements and produce technical design and specifications
  • Ability to design, develop and test in a multi-threaded asynchronous distributed system
  • Ability to work within a team using agile methodologies is an asset
  • Able to multi-task and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Required Skill set

  • Highly proficient in Java
  • Proficiency with fundamental front end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with: Typescript & SASS/LESS
  • Knowledge of frontend performance optimizations techniques
  • Familiarity with  a variety of modern JavaScript frameworks
  • A good understand of modern web applications
  • Communication protocols: RESTFUL services
  • Database: SQL, MySQL
  • Tools: Eclipse, Code Collaborator, JIRA, Jenkins
  • Version Control: Git, BitBucket

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Web Sockets/WebRTC
  • Knowledge in IBM Docker
  • Knowledge in IBM Bluemix/Cloud
  • Experience programming in C/C++
  • Experience with ColdFusion

Education required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent

Qualified interns are:

  • Starting the internship within two years of receiving their post-secondary diploma
  • Underemployed (employed below their level of education or work part-time)
  • No more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada*
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Not receiving employment insurance during their internship
  • Available to work for at least six months

*Refugee protection must be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, student visa or work visa, are ineligible to participate in a Youth Employment Strategy initiative.
