Description

R.I.S.E. Academy is a private online Ontario high school.  Student use the United Nations Sustainable Development goals to spark ideas for co-created projects that focus on youth using their passions to learn course curriculum and create projects that give back to the community.  R.I.S.E. is committed to working with all students in Ontario, therefore is providing spaces for youth in low income communities by way of funders.  This position will include working with community to create connections between students and community partners as well as helping to secure funding for scholarships.

 

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • network with not for profits organizations, businesses, social enterprises that support the SDGs
  • help to create database of not for profits, organizations, businesses, social enterprises that support the SDGs
  • connect students to community members
  • monitor students portfolios
  • provide weekly feedback to students on their projects
  • reach out to funders to ask for donations for R.I.S.E. scholarship fund

Knowledge and skills

The intern should be:

  • familiar with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals
  • have excellent interpersonal skills
  • be able to think creatively
  • to be flexible
  • organized / time management
  • able to work in an online setting (zoom, Virtual Learning Environment)
  • social media skills

Eligibility criteria

Qualified interns are:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons granted refugee status in Canada1
  • Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
  • Available to participate in an ImpAct internship for a flexible duration of up to 6 months by March 1, 2021
  • Not employees of the hiring employer prior to the start of their internship (does not apply to previous coop students or student interns, although this must be clearly indicated by the employer)

1Refugee protection must be conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, student visa or work visa, are ineligible to participate in a Youth Employment Strategy initiative.
