The Software Developer will report to the VP Software Development and work closely with Data Scientist and Product Development teams. The Software Developer will contribute to the development of software which will integrate with our various sensing solutions across the food and agriculture sector. Savormetrics Inc. is an industry leader in rapid testing technology and shelf life extension. Our sensing devices are optical based and are used to detect characteristics in food as well as the presence of pathogens, contaminants, and other small molecules. Our software applications make our devices easy to use while providing advanced data for customer specific needs and for big data analysis that support our customers in making effective decisions.

The successful individual will immediately contribute by developing GUIs and integrating them with our sensing technologies. They will also be responsible for database design and reporting of data for various applications in a user-friendly environment. Involvement in the design and development of any future technologies with a focus on the design, build, test, implementation, and maintenance of agile and efficient cross-platform data acquisition and analytics is strongly encouraged.

This position may require some local travel. This position may require working hour flexibility due to time-zone differences with collaborative partners.

Tâches et responsabilités

  • Participate and take a leading role in software and GUI design and development of requirements,
  • Propose, design, and implement application and GUI software solutions for select sensors and sensing products,
  • Understand overall customer product requirements and how they relate to software design,
  • Ensure appropriate software platforms are used to complement the hardware for optimal performance, meeting customer requirements,
  • Learn customer requirements and rapidly build advanced domain knowledge of the food sector,
  • Design, execute and report on commercial testing,
  • Create automated testing processes to speed up code verification,
  • Build, maintain and document code management system with version control,
  • Build and maintain test databases to also speed up code verification,
  • Provide support in development and participation in workshops, conferences and other events, working with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Second line support for customer issues,
  • Effective communication with all members of the team,
  • Fulfill additional work-related duties as required / assigned,

Technical Knowledge:


  • Strong understanding and extensive experience with .Net, C#
  • Familiarity with Windows & Web based .Net Frameworks, SQL Server and design / architectural patterns (ex. MVC)
  • Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs
  • Knowledge on communication with cloud services using .Net Frameworks (AWS, Azure)

Nice to know

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies

  • Excellent analytical skills with a good problem-solving aptitude
  • Experience with producing efficient applications (minimal CPU cycles) that integrate databases and/or servers with client-side application;

Scolarité requise

  •  Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or technical equivalent
  • At minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with: application and GUI development
  • Experience with software / hardware interfacing would be an asset
  • Experience with designing effective user interfaces (graphics, colors, cultural sensitivities)
