Description

The Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) supports planning development and permit reviews, slope stability assessments, modeling and mapping, and field data collection and processing and field monitoring.

Tâches et responsabilités

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (This is not an exhaustive list)
• Assist with technical reviews and comment on engineering design submissions for subdivisions, site plans, stormwater management facilities, low impact development, and floodplain assessments, mainly related to Stormwater Management Plan.
• Assist with technical reviews of permit applications for the development, interference with wetlands and alteration to shorelines and watercourses, and slope stability assessments.
• Assist with floodplain modelling and mapping.
• Perform field survey, data collection, data processing, and support field monitoring program.
• Respond to enquiries for data and base maps.
• General
• Coordinate with co-workers and regulatory agencies on assigned projects.
• Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain up-to-date electronic and manual records.
• Perform work in accordance with the provisions of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other corporate/departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Connaissances et compétences

• Knowledge of stormwater management design and erosion and sediment control principles.
• Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and modeling.
• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Knowledge of the Conservation Authority Act, regulations, and MVCA policies and guidelines.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Experience with ArcGIS would be an asset.

Scolarité requise

• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Graduate of an accredited civil engineering diploma or degree program with a CET designation. Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements.
• Three to five years’ experience, preferably in stormwater management system design or development review and approvals.
• Work experience with one or more of HEC-RAS, Visual OTTHYMO, PCSWMM, HEC-HMS.
• Must have valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.

Certifications requises

Graduate of an accredited civil engineering diploma or degree program with a CET designation. Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements.
