Description

The Ontario Invasive Plant Council (OIPC) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small team.  Located in Peterborough, the OIPC was created to facilitate a coordinated and effective response to the threat of invasive plants by providing leadership, expertise and a forum to educate, motivate and empower organizations and citizens.  We are looking to build on our achievements by increasing member engagement and communications.

 

 

Tâches et responsabilités

  • Increase member engagement and outreach to new and existing members.
  • Organize Conference(s), location, budget, sponsors, speakers etc. (in person and remote)
  • Develop, coordinate, and present training workshops for scientific professionals, enforcement officers, consultants, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct seminars, and presentations at various shows, trade shows, meetings, conferences, events, etc. for audiences ranging from children to teenagers to adults with substantial education in this
  • Research, write, and produce Best Management Practices guides and Technical documents, with the ability to manage all aspects of the project including timeline and budget.
  • Manage assigned projects from start to finish including but not limited to developing funding proposals, project implementation, budget management, and final reporting.
  • Coordinate communications through member notices and social media.
  • Represent OIPC on committees as assigned by the Executive Director to facilitate communication among the different groups, provide updates/feedback/project status, act as an advisor, etc.
  • Respond to requests for information.
  • Provide administrative support as required.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral as well as public speaking.
  • Personable, team player, experience working with a small team remotely and in person.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, listening skills, and judgement.
  • Strategic, creative problem solver, quick learner, ability to consider a variety of viewpoints.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while producing high quality results, project management, time management, leadership with peers.
  • Ability to productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organization (remote or in person).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and Zoom.
  • Valid Driver’s licence (class G).

Beneficial Attributes

  • Experience writing and communicating scientific and technical documents.
  • Knowledge and experience working to manage invasive plants.

Scolarité requise

College or university education in biology, wildlife management, environmental science, forestry, agriculture or equivalent work-related experience in the relevant fields.

Eligibility criteria

  • Sont disponibles à travailler pendant au moins six mois
  • N’ont pas déjà participé à un programme fédéral d’emploi pour les jeunes
  • N’ont pas été employés par l’employeur avant le début du stage (ne s’appliquent pas aux placements ou stages étudiants antérieurs)
